About SoPhy

What is SoPhy?

SoPhy is a personal CRM for your professional network. It's where you keep every contact you meet in one place, add context and notes about who they are and why they matter, and set follow-up reminders so the right people never slip through the cracks.

Who is SoPhy for?

Anyone who meets a lot of people as part of their work — founders, investors, operators, consultants, community builders, salespeople. If you've ever looked at a name in your phone and thought “who is this?”, SoPhy is built for you.

How is SoPhy different from LinkedIn or my phone contacts?

LinkedIn is a public profile directory. Your phone contacts are a list of numbers. Neither of them holds the context — where you met, what you talked about, what you promised to follow up on. SoPhy keeps the contact, the context, and the follow-up together, and makes it all searchable.

How does connecting with someone work?

To connect on SoPhy, one person scans the other's SoPhy QR code. That sends a connection request — and contact details only become visible once the request is accepted. No scan, no connection, no shared details.

Do I need to attend events to use SoPhy?

You don't have to be at an event to use SoPhy — but right now, the way you add someone to SoPhy is by meeting them in real life and scanning their QR code. That's how connections happen today, and it's deliberate: SoPhy is built around capturing the contacts you actually meet, not padding your network with people you don't know.

We're working on more ways to bring contacts in — LinkedIn import and others — so you'll soon be able to add people you've met outside of QR scans and still get the full benefit of SoPhy's search, notes, and follow-ups.

How does SoPhy work at events?

At partner events, you scan a SoPhy QR code at the entrance to check in. Once checked in, you can see everyone else who checked in — for the 24 hours after the event ends.

We built it this way on purpose. No one has time to use apps during events — you're talking to people, not staring at your phone. SoPhy gives you 24 hours afterwards to explore who else was in the room, reach out to the people you didn't get to meet, and turn a missed introduction into a real connection.

What can I do in SoPhy today?

Save contacts with full context, attach notes to every person, set follow-up reminders, search your whole network instantly, and — when you attend a partner event — browse the attendee list and connect with people you didn't get to meet in person.

What's coming next?

We're rolling out new ways to capture and enrich contacts, a web version, LinkedIn import, and more. SoPhy is in active development and moving fast.

What data does SoPhy collect?

The information you give us when you sign up (name, email, professional details), the contacts and notes you create, and the events you join. We don't sell your data. Our Privacy Policy covers everything in detail.

Who can see my contact details?

Only people you've connected with. Your contact details are never visible to someone until you've accepted their connection request (or they've accepted yours). If you're not connected, they can't see them.

We're also working on more granular privacy controls — so you'll be able to choose exactly what you share with each individual contact, and revoke access at any time.

Who can see my notes?

Only you. Notes you attach to a contact are completely private — the person you've written about cannot see them.

Who can see my profile?

At a partner event you've checked into, other checked-in attendees can see your profile for the 24-hour window after the event. Outside of that, your full profile is only visible to people you've connected with.

Does SoPhy access my phone's contacts?

Not in the current version. Contact import is on the roadmap, and when it ships it will be fully opt-in.

Does SoPhy use Bluetooth or track my location?

Not today. Bluetooth-based proximity features are planned for a later release and will be opt-in. SoPhy does not track your GPS location in the background.

When we do bring Bluetooth in, it'll be part of a bigger vision: SoPhy's Social Physics Engine. The idea is to build a picture of your personal social graph and measure the strength of the relationships you actually build over time — based on real-world signals, not just who you clicked “connect” on. More on that further down the line.

How do I sign up?

Download SoPhy from the App Store, open the app, and follow the sign-up flow. You'll need a valid email address.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, contacts, notes, and follow-ups. You can also submit a deletion request on the web or email Info@rarefounders.com and we'll handle it.

What happens to my data when I delete my account?

Your personal data is permanently deleted from our systems. Some anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for analytics, in line with our Privacy Policy.

Can I export my contacts and notes?

Export is on the roadmap. If you need your data before then, email Info@rarefounders.com and we'll help.

Do I have to use the events feature?

No. Events are optional. SoPhy is fully usable as a personal CRM without ever joining one.

How do I join an event?

At partner events, scan the SoPhy QR code at the entrance to check in. Once you're checked in, the event and its attendees will appear in your app.

How long can I see other attendees for?

For 24 hours after the event ends. That's your window to browse everyone who checked in and send connection requests to the people you didn't get to speak to in person.

Why only 24 hours?

Because the moment is fresh, but it fades fast. We built the 24-hour window to push you to act while the event is still in your head — so those connections actually happen instead of sitting on a mental to-do list forever.

Which events work with SoPhy?

Events run by our partners — starting with Rare Founders and expanding from there. Other events will be added over time.

Can I host my own event on SoPhy?

Yes. If you're organising an event and want to use SoPhy, get in touch at Info@rarefounders.com and we'll help you get set up.

Is SoPhy free?

Yes. SoPhy is free to download and use during our early access period.

Will it stay free?

The core experience will stay free. We may introduce paid features for power users or organisers in future, and we'll make any changes obvious well in advance.

Are there any in-app purchases?

Not currently.

How do I report someone behaving inappropriately?

Open their profile, tap the menu, and select Report. You can also email Info@rarefounders.com with details and we'll investigate. Reports are confidential, and we aim to review every report within 24 hours.

How do I block someone?

From their profile, tap the menu and select Block. They won't be able to see your profile or contact you through SoPhy, and they won't be notified that you blocked them.

What does SoPhy do about abuse or objectionable content?

We have zero tolerance for abusive users, harassment, or objectionable content. Every report is reviewed by our moderation team, and accounts that violate our community standards are suspended or removed. If you're in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services first.

Is my data safe?

We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We never sell your personal data.

Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

I can't log in.

Try resetting your password from the login screen. If that doesn't work, email Info@rarefounders.com with the address on your account.

I'm not receiving notifications for follow-ups.

Check that notifications are enabled in your phone's Settings → SoPhy. If they still don't arrive, try logging out and back in, or contact us.

The app is crashing or acting up.

Make sure you're on the latest version from the App Store. If it keeps happening, email Info@rarefounders.com with your phone model and iOS version.

An event isn't showing up.

Double-check you've scanned the correct QR code at the entrance. If the problem persists, contact the event organiser or us.

My contacts aren't syncing across devices.

Make sure you're logged into the same account on all devices. If the issue persists, get in touch at Info@rarefounders.com.
